Reginald Milton, City Council District 6
Time to Return the City Council to the Community
Now more than ever, experience matters!
Reginald is a native Memphian who has spent his entire adult life fighting for the average citizen. He has been a community organizer for over 15 years working to help start or support more than a dozen neighborhood associations.
Reginald holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from LeMoyne-Owen College and a master's degree in Public administration from the University of Memphis. He worked as Director of Student Affairs for Barnell College and Director of Medical Studies at Southeast
College. In 2000, Reginald started the non-profit, community-based organzation, South Memphis Alliance, Inc. SMA provides support for HIV positive children, families in crisis, and is one of the largest providers of educational services to incarcerated teens.
Spending so much of his time dedicated to increasing civic engagement, Reginald gained a better insight into why people think and act a certain way. His extensive experience has aided him in helping to build strong coalitions and bring reluctant stake holders to the table to discuss positive ideas for improving our communities. Reginald has also worked with leaders in the business community, government, faith based institutions, and grass roots organizations effectively at building consensus and avoiding conflicts throughout those relationships.
Reginald Believes In:
- Supporting neighborhoods in becoming more civically active
- Improving public safety and health
- Promoting workforce development and education
- Creating a more open and transparent city council
- Demanding strong ethical standards for city government & elected officials
