A New Direction
The recent Municipal elections of October 4, 2007 proved to New Path that the citizens of Memphis are eager and ready for change and the infusion of fresh ideas in local governmental policies and procedures. All votes have been cast and nine new representatives were selected to serve our city for the next four years on the Memphis City Council. We look forward to their contributions to our city’s future development, and we have hope that all elected officials will begin to work toward moving Memphis in to a new political direction.
January 2008 brought the arrival of a majority new Memphis City Council with members who are serving their first term. New Path is excited that of those nine, one of our recently endorsed candidates, Bill Morrison (District 1) was elected to serve. Councilman Morrison received an impressive percentage of the general vote which secured his position in a highly anticipated run-off election that was decided on November 8, 2007.
We applaud Bill for his commitment, dedication and passion to work to Make Memphis Great and we are confident that his election to the Memphis City Council will infuse fresh ideas and innovative solutions. Bill has the knowledge and willingness to serve his constituents with integrity and dignity, and his enthusiasm and love for this city was apparent throughout his entire campaign.
We would also like to commend our other candidates Brian Stephens, Davida Cruthird, Reginald Milton and Desi Franklin for their willingness and passion to serve the citizens of Memphis. Their commitment to improving Memphis was also evident in their hard work throughout their campaigns and community involvement activities past and current.
We encourage your continued support of great candidates who are true servant leaders with the ability to represent the best interests of their constituents. Together, we can effect change by working to provide the support to candidates who, like us, are Working Today for a Better Memphis Tomorrow.
